I admit, when I first read Nabi's Manga-Update's page, I wasn't very intrigued. At that time, the page had no information on it at all. The volume picture was too small for me to make a judgment if the artwork was good (and admit it, we are all vain when it comes to reading our manhwa/manga. xD Good artwork always helps). But I decided to give it a try and was amazed - and instantly won over.
Plot
Myo-Un and Ryu-Sang's lives are turned upside down when a guest comes to visit their temple consisting of orphanage children. Their peaceful life with their mentor is destroyed when the guest is revealed to be an assassin, sent to kill the child of a powerful family in the Sun country.
Forced to flee, the group of orphans, including Myo-Un and Ryu-Sang, have no place to go. And thus the twists and turns begin as the assassin continues to hunt them. The unanswered questions still hang in the air.
Who is the last child? Is their teacher still alive? Who sent the assassin after them? What did Myo-Un do to Ryu-Sang that caused their friendship to denigrate?
I guess we'll have to continue reading to find that out! =)
My thoughts: Quite frankly, I am drawn to the manhwa for it's elegant style of prose. It maybe partly that I am reading the translation, but it should hold some glimmer of the original meaning, no?
And a thought passed through me.
We can meet again, I thought.
Just like this moment. This time I was running to him.
People can meet again.
And can start again.
Artwork
KIM Yeon-Joo has beautiful works, and Nabi is no exception. The emotions in the characters are beautifully and artistically conveyed - adding to the charm and sincerity with the characters. Kim Yeon-Joo's detailed but also simple artwork leaves to spellbound.

Myo-Un and Ryu-Sang
The plot regularly relies on the artwork as well (like any manga or manhwa). Kim Yeon-Joo utlizies this quite a lot, and so they say, 'a picture is worth a thousand words'
Manga-ka
I don't know much about KIM Yeon-Joo, in terms of personal life. But manga works, to date, she has produced 5 series (3 being actual series and 2 one-shots.) They include:
- Nabi
- Nabi the Prototype
- Girl Queen
- Platina
- Pure Love Stories
